WisdomSpoon is designed to make creator-economy data easier to understand while being clear about what is known, what is calculated and what is estimated.
Our methodology combines publicly available platform data, historical tracking, transparent formulas and contextual assumptions. We do not claim access to a creator’s private earnings, advertising account or confidential business information unless that creator has explicitly connected an account through an authorised platform integration.
Public Platform Data
Where a platform provides official public data, WisdomSpoon uses that information as the starting point for analysis.
Depending on the platform and the data made available, this may include information such as subscriber or follower counts, total views, video counts, recent uploads, likes, comments and other public performance indicators.
WisdomSpoon does not present public statistics as private or proprietary information. Our value comes from organising, comparing and interpreting those statistics in a more useful way.
Historical Tracking
Some of the most useful creator metrics are not available as a ready-made historical dataset.
For supported platforms, WisdomSpoon therefore records periodic snapshots of publicly available channel statistics. Once a channel enters our tracking system, we can compare its current figures with earlier observations.
For example, if a channel has 100 million total views when WisdomSpoon first records it and 103 million total views 30 days later, WisdomSpoon can identify approximately 3 million observed views gained during that period.
This allows us to build genuine historical measures such as:
- daily, weekly and monthly view growth;
- subscriber or follower growth where reliable data is available;
- changes in publishing activity;
- recent performance trends;
- longer-term growth patterns.
WisdomSpoon does not manufacture historical figures for periods before a channel entered our tracking system. Where sufficient history does not yet exist, the site may display a message such as “Building history” rather than presenting an artificial estimate.
Earnings Estimates
Creator earnings are rarely public and can vary significantly even when two creators generate similar numbers of views.
For that reason, WisdomSpoon presents earnings as estimated ranges, not as statements of actual income.
A basic advertising estimate may use a model such as:
Estimated Revenue = Views ÷ 1,000 × Estimated RPM
RPM means estimated revenue generated per 1,000 views. WisdomSpoon may use a low and high RPM assumption to provide a range rather than a single figure.
For example, if a creator receives 1 million eligible views and the assumed RPM range is $1.50 to $6.00, the corresponding estimated advertising range would be approximately $1,500 to $6,000.
These figures are modelling scenarios only.
Actual creator revenue may be higher or lower because of factors including audience geography, content category, advertising demand, seasonality, video format, monetisation eligibility, watch behaviour, platform policies and the proportion of views that actually generate revenue.
Advertising Revenue Is Only One Income Source
A creator’s total business income may include much more than advertising.
Depending on the platform and creator, other income sources may include sponsorships, brand partnerships, memberships, subscriptions, affiliate marketing, merchandise, donations, gifts, licensing, digital products, music royalties and other commercial arrangements.
Unless specifically stated, WisdomSpoon’s advertising estimates should therefore not be interpreted as an estimate of a creator’s total personal or business income.
Platform-Specific Calculators
Different platforms use different monetisation systems, so WisdomSpoon does not apply one formula universally.
A YouTube advertising calculator, for example, may be based primarily on views and RPM assumptions, while an Instagram influencer calculator may focus more heavily on audience size, engagement and possible sponsorship value.
A Twitch calculator may consider subscriptions, advertising, Bits or sponsorship scenarios, while a Spotify calculator may model royalty ranges based on streams rather than assuming a guaranteed payment per stream.
Each calculator is intended to reflect the economics of that particular platform as closely as practical while remaining understandable to users.
Recent-Content Analysis
Where public video or post data is available, WisdomSpoon may calculate additional indicators such as average recent views, median views, engagement rate, upload frequency and the performance of recent content.
These measures are intended to provide context.
For example, a creator with a very large subscriber base but consistently low recent views may have a different commercial profile from a smaller creator whose content regularly reaches a large percentage of their audience.
No single metric should therefore be treated as a complete measure of creator quality or commercial value.
Estimates, Not Guarantees
WisdomSpoon does not guarantee that a creator will earn any particular amount.
All estimated earnings, sponsorship values, royalty calculations and projections should be treated as informational models. They are designed to help users understand possible ranges and relationships between audience activity and commercial opportunity.
They should not be treated as financial, investment, tax or professional business advice.
Data Accuracy and Limitations
WisdomSpoon depends partly on data made available by external platforms.
Platforms may round figures, change how statistics are counted, restrict access to certain information or modify their APIs and monetisation programmes. Public metrics may also change between WisdomSpoon data-collection intervals.
As a result, WisdomSpoon cannot guarantee that every public statistic is perfectly current at every moment.
Where possible, we aim to clearly distinguish between:
Live platform data
Information retrieved directly from an available public source.
WisdomSpoon historical data
Statistics previously observed and stored by WisdomSpoon.
Calculated metrics
Figures derived mathematically from available data.
Estimated values
Models based on stated assumptions rather than verified private financial information.
Our Approach to Transparency
WisdomSpoon believes analytics are more useful when users understand how a number was produced.
Where practical, our tools therefore show the assumptions behind estimates rather than presenting unexplained figures as facts.
As WisdomSpoon’s historical dataset grows, our methodology will continue to evolve. New platform integrations, improved modelling and larger datasets may allow us to provide more detailed analysis over time.
When we materially change how an important metric or estimate is calculated, we aim to update this methodology accordingly.
